Boann is the Goddess of the Boyne River of Ireland. Her name may mean 'She Who Has White Cows", and She is considered one of the Tuatha Dé Danann. Her legend is quite similar to that of Sinann: She is said to have broken the taboo around a sacred spring, which rose up against Her, drowning Her and creating the River Boyne, which was then named for Her. Done as the monthly Goddess by Request for May 2017 over on my Patreon. Watercolor on paper; the silver necklace She wears represents the Salmon of Wisdom of the sacred spring. As She is associated with cows I have given Her their eyes. This design is available on prints through ArtPal and on greeting cards through Zazzle. |
