 
Branwen, Whose name means ‘White (or Sacred) Raven’ is the daughter of the Sea-God Llŷr in Welsh mythology. She is associated with birds, especially the starling; She was married to the King of Ireland, but it brought Her nothing but despair; in the end Her brother Brân rescues Her and brings Her back to Wales, where She dies of a broken heart.
