Ma’at is the ancient Egyptian Goddess of truth, righteousness, and wholeness. Her symbol is the ostrich feather, which is used by Anubis to judge the newly dead: if the deceased’s heart is as light or lighter than the feather, they are judged to have lived a life in accordance with Ma’at. But if it is heavier, it is given to the monster Ammut to eat.
