Ninkilim is the Sumerian Goddess of the devouring creatures of the fields. She is more often thought of as a male God, but there are references to Her as female. Her name may mean "Mongoose", and locusts were called "the Dogs of Ninkilim". I have shown Her here with a mouse, in a manner that both shields it from harm (from humans who don't like mice eating the stored grain) and keeps it away from the grain, as a nod to Her powers over vermin or pestilence, as She can both bring them or hold them back. I've also included a snake and a couple of locusts, also considered Her animals. Done as a commission. If you're interested in your own, go here for details. |
