Freyja (‘the Lady’) is the great Viking Goddess of love, beauty, and magic; She is especially associated with the practice of seiðr, a magical practice which could both tell and shape the future. ’Seiðr’ is related to words meaning ‘string’ or ‘cord’, probably relating to the idea of the spun thread of fate, and the characteristic staff used in the practice is a form of distaff, used to hold fibers in preparation to be spun.

She is shown here wearing Her falcon cloak, looking inwards, with Her seiðr staff on Her lap.

Done as a commission.
